QA: Keyless entry keys carried in pocket

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:17 am

Q: Are Keyless entry keys ( I have one with my Toyota Prius) deleterious to the body when carried in ones pocket next to the body? They contain a computer chip, and I am curious about this, I have my Prius 2 years now, and I’ve carried the key in my slacks pocket every day since I got the car. Is there any danger in this? Thank you Dr. Mercola. I love your newsletter.A: Excellent question!
I believe they can be very harmful. I know this because I was being tested with a sensitive electrodermal energy screening about 15 years ago and happened to have one of these types of keys in my pocket. My readings looked like I was dying and then we finally figured out that it was because I had the key in my pocket. As soon as I got it off my body my readings normalized.
So [...]

QA: Seaweed

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:01 am

Q: I wonder why you do not advocate to consumption of seaweed as I thought it was beneficial for minerals and detoxifying the system of heavy metals.A: Not sure why you received that impression. Just because I don’t mention something doesn’t mean I don’t believe it is helpful. Seaweed can be a wonderful food source and I have some regularly. But ideally one should consume it based on metabolic typing principles, not blindly because it is “supposed to be good for you.

QA: Slow Burn

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:53 pm

Q: Several Months ago, BRuce West was recomending an exercise protocil called slow burn. I read books on it and physiologically it makes sense and the workout seems appealing due to my lack of time. I’m considering signing up with a trainer who specializes in it. What’s your take?A: If you can afford it I think it is a great tool. I personally saw a Super Slow personal trainer for about six months and was impressed with the results. It really did increase my muscular size and strength. I still use the principles that I learned when I do lift weights.
Seems to make a lot of sense to me to:

Go slowly — ten seconds up and ten seconds down
Use enough weight so you can’t do more than six reps if you can do more you need to increase the weight, if less than you need to decrease the weight.
Only [...]

QA: Are flax and MCT powders safe?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:57 pm

Q: I’m beginning to see flax seed oil and MCT oil powders sold as supplements, particularly to the bodybuilding community. Are these powders safe alternatives to the oils, or does the extra processing they go through destroy their health-promoting qualities?A: The ideal way to consume your food would be minimally processed. Additionally processing will tend to increase damage to the food and the benefits it can provide to your body. This is especially true for highly perishable essential fatty acids. Flax seeds can be a very important source of a balanced diet. I would caution against the use of the oil for reasons I discuss in the video and that are on the site.

QA: First Seizure Listerine Spray

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:00 pm

Q: Dr. Mercola - Last saturday while shopping, I sprayed listerine in my mouth. About a minute or 2 minutes later I’m on the floor having a grand mal seizure. I’m a heavy diet pop drinker. Common sense tells me the aspartame has finally caught up with me. I’m on dilatin and can’t drive for 6 months. My question is this. Would you recommend that I continue on the dilantin or should I just avoid natural sweeteners and see if the seizures re-occur. I’m going for an MRI and EEG next week.A: There is a strong likelihood your seizures are being caused by the aspartame but you just simply can’t stop taking prescription medication without some type of expert coaching. I suggest you consult with a natural health care professional who can assist you in successfully resolving your challenge.

QA: omega 3s

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:56 pm

Q: Thank you for your video clarifying the use and storage of fish oil. It was especially helpful to hear you talk a bit about the krill oil supplements. Can I use krill as my source of omega 3s on a year round basis, or do I need to substitute cod liver oil in the winter to increase my vitamin D intake? I live in the chicago area.
THANK YOU,
Di SchlueterA: Krill is a perfectly acceptable source of omega-3 year round. It does not have any vitamin D like cod liver oil for those that live in Chicago in the winter. So you will need to find some solution for that but I address that in other articles on the site.

QA: Cooking on Aluminum

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:21 pm

Q: Dear Dr. Mercola, Thank you for blessing us with this very inexpensive learning system! My question is this, Is it bad to cook on aluminum, such as foil, pans, pots? And also is it safe to cook on cast ironA: I would never advocate cooking on aluminum foil or in aluminum pots or pans. Give all those pots and pans to neighbors or relatives that you don’t like as it should not be used at all.
Cooking with iron cookware is ok if you are a woman that is still having periods as the iron can typically be used. You would need to do a blood test for sure but it is usually ok, although red meat is clearly a superior source of iron. If you are a woman not having periods or an adult male then iron cookware and iron supplements should be avoided unless your physician tells you [...]

QA: Hemp oil and hemp nuts, are they good for us?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:17 pm

Q: Hello Dr. Mercola,
I have been reading, online, about the benefits of coldpressed organic hemp oil and hemp nuts. I would like to know if the benefits are real, or is this just hype from the hemp manufacturers and distributors? I like that hemp is an environmentally friendly plant and so many wonderful products can be made from it.
Thank you,
Nancy, in Florence, ORA: Hemp is a great nutritional source. Probably better than flax. The problem is the US DEA does not like it very much because it has psychoactive ingredients. As a result it is VERY difficult to get any regular source of the material that has not been irradiated or damaged because of this concern.  So I typically do not recommend it to people in the US. If you are overseas and your country does not impose these restrictions then go for it.

QA: Root canal & bridges

Q: You said that bridges are the best option to replace missing teeth extracted (rather than doing a root canal). What if you are already missing a tooth and you have to have one extracted next to the missing one. Then you are missing 2 teeth next to each other and a bridge is not an option. In that case, do you still think a partial is the best option rather than implants? I thought implants helped keep the jaw bone from deteriorating (when teeth are missing).A: This is precisely my situation. I had two adjacent teeth that were extracted so I have a four tooth bridge.  So yes it is possible. My bridge is doing just fine. Implants are not needed to maintain jaw integrity. All that is required is a structure to maintain the position.  My bridge is made from inert composites.
